Neil Mark
Neil was first introduced to yoga asanas in 1999 when he was invited by a friend to an all girls class that resulted in one of his most humbling life experiences to date. Coming from a very athletic background and playing on as many sports teams his mother could drive him to made the initial stages of the physical asanas rather challenging. With being only able to touch his knee caps and having the core strength of a wet noodle there was so much room for opening and strength in the body and mind. His first teacher was blessed a well versed knowledge of all the limbs of Ashtanga yoga. This helped him to cultivate discipline and patience. A catalyst on Neil's path was an evergreen tree he collided with while snowboarding resulting in broken bones, metal rods, muscle grafts and deeper understanding patience and humility. One month after getting off his crutches he enrolled in a Yoga Teacher Training on Salt Spring Island under the teachings of Baba Hari Dass. Since achieving his certification he has studied with teachers like Nancy Gilgoff, Dharma Mitra, Mark Whitwell, Rodney Yee, Ron Reid and Jennifer Pritchard of The Yoga Shala in Victoria.

Marla Waal
Marla began her study of body and movement very early
in life as a competitive gymnast, then a professional
dancer. While most people her age were sitting in
desks staring at computer monitors at University, she
was studying Ballet at the school of Les Grands
Ballets Canadiens in Montreal. In 1990 she joined Les
Ballets Jazz de Montreal and travelled the world
kicking her legs real high. From there to Chicago in
1994 with Hubbard Street Dance Chicago. There, in true
U.S. form she had bigger stages to kick even higher!
After another four years of this her legs were getting
tired so she decided to come home to the west coast of
Canada, marry her love from high school Peter Waal and
wiggle their toes together in the sand at Jericho
beach.

Her yoga journey began in 1998 in Vancouver at the
Prana Yoga and Zen Centre. Yoga became an instant
passion and quickly became her central focus. After
completing the one year teacher training course at the
Prana Centre Marla began teaching Hatha Yoga and Power
Yoga at the centre. About a year later she Studied
Ashtanga Yoga with David Swenson, and recently has
completed and advanced Ashtanga training with Tim
Miller. Marla has done workshops with inspiring Yogi's

Nico Luce
Nico Lucesoli has, from a young age, been committed towards building optimal strength and balanced health. He started weight-lifting over 15 years ago and has always been committed to an active lifestyle. Working as an actor in Buenos Aires, Argentina, he also received training in gymnastics and circus stunts. After moving to Vancouver, he completed his formal training as a Personal Trainer. He soon felt drawn to the physical and spiritual aspects of yoga and began to practice regularly. From yoga, he has found tremendous complementary benefits to resistance training, a balancing act between strength and flexibility. Shortly after, he did his Power Yoga Teacher Training with yogi masters James Nicholson and David Swenson and started teaching yoga. Between core conditioning and Yoga, the leap to Pilates was obvious for Nico, who then took his Pilates Instructor Training in 2003. With all three disciplines to his credit, Nico has found his niche. He continually satisfies his thirst for more knowledge by taking various Yoga and Pilates workshops from visiting masters.

His personal Yoga philosophy is based on experiential approach to the practice. He believes that each class is an opportunity for students to dynamically integrate their minds with their bodies and deepen the self awareness of the connection between the two.

By becoming mindful of every breath during the practice we can carry that with us into our daily lives. Yoga can create bliss through finding stillness in motion.

Lidija Martinovic
Lidija Martinovic is a KRI internationally certified yoga and meditation teacher and founder of The Yoga Wheel Turning. She is teaching kids, adults and elders in established centres in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Besides Kundalini Yoga, Lidija teaches classical hatha, restorative and yoga Nidra. She has studied the human body through the modern experiential anatomy approach and tensegrity structure. Encouraging a psycho- somatic re sourcing, Lidija mindfully bridges a mental, physical and energetic paradigm.

In her teachings she encourages continuous pausing, bringing the emphasis on the space where we make our authentic inquiries. This allows one to be and explore rather than do yoga. The space itself creates the vehicle which, stirred up with the equanimity of the mind and compassioned heart, ultimately leads to a world of peace and integration.
As a Vajrayana and insight meditation (vipassana) practitioner, Lidija holds mindfulness and courage as an essential aspect of her teachings in yoga.

Clara Roberts-Oss
All I've ever wanted to do is move, dance and let my spirit free.
Hailing from one of the bigger meccas of yoga, NYC. I took my first vinyasa class in 2000 at Jivamukti Yoga Center. I had a feeling of arriving home. We moved through postures seamlessly with an emphasis of breath-body connection. The spiritual aspect of the inward journey also appealed to me. I've always found movement to be sacred. By allowing myself to dance, to pulse, I felt connected to the Divine, to everything around me. I practiced yoga for a couple of years and decided I should teach; thinking I could share this love of movement with others. I received my certification at Sonic Yoga NYC with Lauren Hanna and Jonathan Fields in 2003. My unique sense of sequencing is influenced by my beloved teachers Shiva Rea, Lauren Hanna, Stacey Brass (Laughing Lotus), David Life (Jivamukti) and from my background in dance. I invite you to be playful in your practice, reminding us that lightness is found in spirit!

Bernie Clark
Bernie Clark has been teaching yoga and meditation since 1998. He has a bachelor’s degree in science from the University of Waterloo and combines his intense interest in yoga with an understanding of the scientific approach to investigating the nature of things. His ongoing studies have taken him deeply inside mythology, comparative religions, and psychology. All of these avenues of exploration have clarified his under-standing of the ancient Eastern practices of yoga and meditation. His teaching, workshops, and book (YinSights) have helped many students broaden their own understanding of health, life, and the source of true joy.

Mantak Chia
Master Mantak Chia was born in Bangkok, Thailand in 1944. Recognized very early as having great potential for spiritual development, he was initiated into meditation practices by Buddhist monks at the age of 6. While studying in Hong Kong, he learned Tai Chi Chuan, Aikido and Kundalini Yoga from a variety of teachers. His pursuit of Taoist teachings lead him to meet the White Cloud Hermit, a Taoist Master originally from Central China, living at that time in the mountains not far from Hong Kong. Master Yi Eng was to become Master Mantak Chia's principle teacher.

Over a period of five years, Master Yi transmitted to Master Mantak Chia the most sacred and closely held Taoist practices, formulas and methods of internal alchemy, culminating in the Reunion of Heaven and Man. Realizing that as transmitted to him, these Immortal practices could not easily be absorbed by western students, Master Mantak Chia undertook to integrate them with his studies in western physical anatomy. Through this process he created a unique view of the internal aspects of these practices.

With the Universal Tao system, he has created for the first time, a way for any individual to quickly get to the essence of subtle practices whose real purpose has been shrouded in secrecy for millennia. The author of dozens of books, booklets, videos and CDs describing the theory and methods of these practices, Master Mantak Chia has taught hundreds of thousands of eager students the principles of Taoist internal practice over the past 40 years. He has certified hundreds of Instructors and Practitioners to help in the transmission of these teachings.

Dharma Mittra
Sri Dharma Mittra has spent most of his life in service to humanity, disseminating the ancient knowledge of how to achieve radiant health and spiritual development. Dharma was born in the late1930's, and has studied Yoga since 1958. After meeting his teacher guru, Sri Swami Kalaishananda, he immersed himself in intense study and practice of the classical eight limbs of Yoga, and nine years of dedication full time practice of Karma Yoga. He was accepted and initiated as a sannyasi (one who renounces the world in order to realize God). During these years Dharma had the esteemed honor of being the personal assistant to the Guru attending to all his needs. Sri Swami Kailashanada is known as the first Guru to bring the practice of Hatha Yoga to the west in the early 1950’s.

Dharma taught only for his Guru with selfless expectation, after years as a full-time yogi and bramachari, a celibate religious student who lives with his teacher and devotes himself to the practice of spiritual disciplines. He was the main demonstrator for the Yoga asanas at the many lectures the Guru gave to the public in the 60’s and 70’s. After being a celebrated teacher for many years at his guru’s Ashram, he left in 1974 and founded the Yoga Asana Center, currently known as Dharma Mittra Yoga New York Center.

Dharma is the first main independent Yoga teacher on the East Coast, initiating hundreds of thousands on the path of Yogic practice and teaching. Dharma began disseminating this knowledge before "styles" of Yoga became popular, and has remained truthful to the original classical practice. Students from all walks and styles of Yoga love his teachings. Dharma has literally been teaching classes continuously everyday since he started in 1967. To this day he still makes himself available regularly to anyone who walks thru the doors of Dharma Mittra Yoga in need of help and direction. For his dedication and fortitude, he is known as "the Rock of Yoga", and for his experience and knowledge the “Teacher's Teacher". Sri Dharma continues to inspire, enlighten, and reveal to Yoga teachers and practitioners today, the real meaning of Yoga. “It is my greatest joy to share with students this knowledge that I have acquired in the past 50 years of practice and study. Yoga practice will give one’s body the power and strength to have resistance to common illnesses and diseases. With proper encouragement and increased faith in the Guru, as one can improve his physical body and mental attitude rapidly, thereby igniting the higher motives of making ones self useful to himself and all mankind”.
