Courageously Resist Infectious Stress Carriers

Just Say No

Stress carriers are highly infectious and infect others with their stress like any other disease carriers.  You probably know the type, constantly stressed out about some issue that hasn‘t even developed into a problem or the one who is always angry, backstabbing or gossiping.  Perhaps you know a paranoid boss who bullies his employees and only cares about what concerns him directly.  It can also be an overbearingly helpful individual who wants to do everything for you but doesn‘t have the means or ability to.  Be courageous and say no to avoid an epidemic.  Do not participate in gossiping or bullying and say no to codependent relationships.

Eliminate Fire Starters

Many stress carriers believe they are indispensable overachievers.  To others it seems like they never have any time.  Every day and every night is spent on problems that seem highly important and need immediate attention, when in reality; they spend all their time and energy on putting out immediate fires.   Be courageous and do not get infected by fear.  Allowing a small fire to burn is sometimes all it takes to eliminate fire starters.

Make Quality Decisions Not Quick Decisions

Many stress carriers also believe they alone know best how to handle urgent matters.  They believe that collaboration is a waste of time, pushing quick decision making processes and praising efficiency.  Do not get fooled by such quick fixes.  This is a very common culprit for widespread stress infection as well as a symptom of the “disease”.  The stress carrier is driven by the negative emotions deriving from stress, such as fear and anger, whereas the skill of making quick quality decisions is based on strong communication skills and having the courage to face uncertainties and accepting consequences.

Act Courageously

We all have 24 hours in the day and we live in the same world, face similar everyday problems,  get stuck in traffic, deal with the economy and we all try to do our jobs.  Some of us face more difficult situations then others but it all boils down to how we react to stressors. Be courageous and challenge all those highly infectious stress carriers.  Just remember being compassionate as well. There is always a reason why the stress carrier became infected.
