I have been a member for about a month and am in the middle of the Yoga for Beginners program. Perhaps this will be addressed later in the program, but can someone advise me on the best schedule for yoga for overall health? I'm already doing some burst aerobic training. On top of that, how many days of yoga is ideal? Should I mix it up with relaxation yoga and other yoga to improve flexibility? I LOVE yoga, but I can't do it every night. So far I've done something different each night to try to find what I like most. Any advice is welcome. Thanks!

Hey Nicole; nobody but you knows what is ultimately best for you. I love doing a daily yoga practice, even while travelling, and find that if I really honour my body and do a practice that gives me what I need, then a daily practice works best for me. Eg. Yin-style when I need to stretch tendons and ligaments or calm my nervous system, Hatha when an equally balanced practice is needed; and Kundalini when I want to work deeper metaphysically.

Love that you're trying out different practices to see what feels best for you! I'd simply recommend more of this, so that each day you can tune into your body-mind-emotions and give yourself what you truly need, even if it's a 20 minute savasana!

        Namaste,

        Lindsey

      • Thank you all for the input! Kreg, I read that article and found it very helpful. I believe I will have a better idea after I complete the beginner program. I don't do weight training, but I tried doing a hip opening session after burst training and found my legs to be very weak. I think I will stick to the relaxation sessions on those days. I also should try doing yoga in the morning so I will have more time to do yoga daily. Thanks again!
