Hi Lina,
Thank you for your question. From my personal perspective, since you are still breast feeding and in a post-natal stage, I would not be concern on losing those few pounds. Your body is focussing primarily on providing nutrition for your baby and is likely in a 'hormone stage' that supporting this. Continue to stay active with yoga and other exercise modalities that supports your current energy and wellness needs right now.
As you shift out this post-natal phase and discontinue breast feeding, your hormones will likely stabilize more. You will hopefully also have greater amounts of energy allowing you to increase your physical activity levels which will support enhanced body weight management.
Specifically about yoga poses and weight loss: it is more about the sequencing of poses versus individual poses that contribute to calorie expenditure. Vinyasa style flows link repetitive sequences of muscle loading poses. Note that it is not about pace, but instead using control. With a sustained sequence of vigorous poses over a 45-90 minute period, you will expend a good amount of calories. But again, I would like to emphasize that these practices should be performed with control and integrity. Approaching a practice solely for weight loss can present issues with being ego-driven.
For your headaches, are you certain what type of headaches these are as there are many forms. Tension headaches can be readily diminished with yoga. Migraine headaches are more serious and more challenging to eliminate.
Here are some articles that may be helpful. Please note that we always recommend that you consult a health professional especially in situations like post-natal and migraine problems.
