A few days ago I started feeling some pain on the external side of the upper left leg, from the middle to the knee. It was like electricity were passing through my leg. It happened, and happens, in the warrior pose I in the back leg.
Now if I touch the legs, the skin have no sensibility.
I searched on the web and discovered it is called Meralgia paresthetica, caused by the compression of the lateral femoral cutaneus nerve that originates betwen L2 and L3 in the back.
Can you advice me with some yoga flows or positions tha can be useful for that problem?
Thanks

hi maximax,

Thank you very much for your question.  I would strongly recommend that you consult a qualified health professional to receive a proper assessment of your condition just to confirm that what you have is Meralgia paresthetica.

Following a proper diagnosis, I would also try to determine what is the root cause of this condition:  is it a chronic or acute condition?  is it related to your practice or another activity?

Too often we try to cure the symptoms versus trying to discover the cause.  By eliminating first the origin of the condition, we can then more readily apply therapeutic treatments like Yoga to eliminate the symptoms and discomfort.

Again, given the sensitive nature of this condition (being located in the lower vetebra and involving nervous tissue), please consult a health professional with ample experience with exercise science.

Please let us know how this works out and from there we can see about offering some suggestions for your practice.

Namaste,

After a first visit it's not Meralgia, but the problem originates betwen L5 and S1.
It advised me to stop any activity till the visit with the radiography. I'm waiting that moment to start again my yoga flows.
Thanks for the moment.
I'll have more info during next days and I'll open a new post.
