Yin Yoga: A Rest and Digest Practice

Duration: 79 minutes
Level: All Levels
Views: 16918

In this Yin Yoga studio session we will discuss the difference between the sympathetic nervous system, also known as the “fight or flight” system, and the parasympathetic nervous system, also known as the “rest & digest” system. We will discuss how to activate the parasympathetic and turn off the sympathetic systems; a critical component in our Western culture which is very yang-like: full of stress, burn-out and depletion. This practice will explore how to use yoga and our breath to turn off the stress and start to rest and recharge the body. The entire practice is done close to the ground, so no yoga mat is required, you just need some space to spread out.

The postures will be simple and accessible to everyone, but this does not mean that the practice will be easy; there will be some challenging moments.
