In this Yin Yoga studio session we will discuss the difference between the sympathetic nervous system, also known as the “fight or flight” system, and the parasympathetic nervous system, also known as the “rest & digest” system. We will discuss how to activate the parasympathetic and turn off the sympathetic systems; a critical component in our Western culture which is very yang-like: full of stress, burn-out and depletion. This practice will explore how to use yoga and our breath to turn off the stress and start to rest and recharge the body. The entire practice is done close to the ground, so no yoga mat is required, you just need some space to spread out.
The postures will be simple and accessible to everyone, but this does not mean that the practice will be easy; there will be some challenging moments.

I really love Bernie. His classes have given me a deep appreciation and love for yin yoga. I feel that his talking helps, because he provides insight and knowledge about what we are presently doing in the practice. Love, love, love it. I feel my breath is so deep and has spread throughout every bit of my body.

I'm a beginner and thought this was an absolutely amazing session. I felt great afterwards and the whole next day. I'm still focusing on my breathing, even when sitting around at work.

Have been trying to do this practice and am just not able to download, too many pauses, maybe not a good Internet signal! The parts I do receive the sound is just too low, with full volume on computer and video was still unable to hear Bernie. Love Bernie's videos....would these problems be solved if I purchased the vidoe?

Thank you so very much for this hip opening class. I am working through an injury that prevents me from doing any hip opening standing poses and this yin practice was perfect!!!
