Loved the connections coming here, alwasy learn something when listening to Leslie. Doesn't bring the apana and prana together suggest kindling the kundalini? This is what I've come across when joining these two energies which can get a little dangerous as opposed to starting with "simple" breathe awareness/ meditative pranayama.
