Greet the sun with this morning flow taught by Clara Roberts-Oss. Wake your body, mind, and spirit with a vinyasa. This practice will focus on opening the front of the body with deep hip openers and backbends, preparing you to meet the day with an open heart.

Hi Mummad,
Have you tried 'thread the needle'? Lie on your back, bend your knees with your feet on the ground. Place your right ankle on your left thigh, lift your left for off the ground. Take your right hand btwn your legs, left arm to the outside of left leg and interlace your fingers around the thigh. Repeat on the left side. This is a great modification for knees. Let me know who it works.

This is the first time I've tried Surya morning flow. Loved it! Fast paced but totally absorbing. I can't do pigeon - it really hurts my knees can you suggest anything else? I can do floating pigeon but nothing seated. Thank you!

Thanks your tip does help to stabilize and I really feel my back quad engaging now! Awesome! and now i understand why you emphasize stretching out the quad in other poses. Thank you!!

Hi Adinapete,
If you find it hard to balance while going deeper into the lunge, check if you're engaging your inner thighs enough. You can do this by drawing your front heel back and your back knee forward. You should feel a soft lift of the pelvis which should stabilize you. Lift the pelvic floor (mula bundha) and engage your abdomen. Take your time going deeper into the lunge. Perhaps for the first couple of weeks just work on stabilizing then work on going deeper. Let me know if this helps ;)

I love this morning flow for 5AM before i go to work - i just have one question. i am still having trouble with the back bend then leaning into the lunge. i am very careful with keeping my tailbone tucked so as to protect my low back, but i feel like it is hard to find balance leaning into the lunge of the pose. maybe because it's 5AM, but i was wondering if you had any tips about how to better hold the pose? maybe i need to be holding in with my legs more? i am not sure. thanks!
