In this gentle beginner Hatha class, Mary Dana Abbott guides her students through basic Asana while demonstrating how to develop a strong foundation to work from. This mindful sequence will support those new to yoga to develop awareness and consciousness as they learn to move with breath and flow from pose to pose. Filmed at Laughing Lotus Yoga Studio in New York City.

I'm not just a newbe but an older newbe. I looked at several videos and found that they didn't explain the correct stance of the poses, which for me means lots of joint pain and at least a weeks hold on the next class. This class was great, I appreciate the verbal cues on laterality and how to soften the pose if needed. I found the speed slow enough to follow and long enough for a good position hold. I return to this video each time I start my new found practice. If ever in NYC, I hope to look the studio up and personally thank Dana.

I started MYO earlier last month but then over did it and hurt my lower back. This video was a nice gentle re-introduction to my practice. Thank you.

This was a good video for yoga as exercise. As someone who is more on a healing path, this didn't work for me because it didn't hold positions for very long. It was more about movement and less about healing and relaxing the body. So it depends on what you want in a yoga experience.

To me, this video was too fast. I like to hold a pose for a bit and really feel the stretch. This was more about movement and less about relaxing into the poses. As someone who's on a healing path and not an exercise path, this didn't work for my body.

Thanks for all the comments everyone! I am so happy many are finding it useful! too. I tried to strike a balance between accessibility and challenge when making this one, so that you would both enjoy and progress with it over time.

This was a bit hardcore for me I really am a beginner but I got through it all save a few poses. The moves transition faster than I could. Sweating a LOT. I will come back to this in a week and see if I've improved. Perfect length, thank you!
