Dana and Jasmine first opened Laughing Lotus in 2000 in a cozy room above a Jazz Club in Greenwich Village. The fireplace became the alter and the saxophone climbed the steps at night as we were leaving them. It was Live Jazz downstairs and LIVE Yoga upstairs.
This became a creative and fertile environment that gave birth to our celebrated School and 200-hour Teacher Training Program. Pretty soon we grew out of our sweet nest and opened our new Lotus temple in Chelsea, featuring three asana rooms and a newly graffiti'd dance hall with over 100 classes a week and expanded our offerings to include a 300-hour program, summer Intensives, annual Teacher's Summit, Kirtans, Donation Classes and Midnight Yoga.
In 2007, we spread our wings across the country to San Francisco where Dana was born and Jasmine grew up. We transformed a plumbing garage into a colorful cosmic playground in the Mission neighborhood, celebrating the color, culture and creativity of this great city and the yoga that we love.

I thought the energy of the space and class was messy. Trying too hard. I didn't really like it at all. But i give her credit for expressing herself.

interesting, fluid sequences AND meaningful philosophy woven in - which i much appreciate, as it is rarer to find this in a class (because takes more skill to do) than one might expect. thank you.

Amazing class! Would agree that a beginner without a working vocabulary of the poses could easily be lost though. Yes, intermediate and a lovely one. :)

Excellent, comprehensive power yoga class with very fast transitions.
Definitely not all levels. Intermediate.
I have found that the "all levels" classes these days on MYO are mostly intermediate.

I loved that! My favourite poses, melded into a beautiful, flowing, dance-like vinyasa! My only suggestion would be to change the "all levels" because I never know what to make of it. I like to choose a level of difficulty based no what I'm in the mood for on a given day and, since this sequence has chataranga and head stand, I wouldn't necessarily say that it's suitable for "all levels". Maybe intermediate? Beautiful practice. I will be looking at more flows from the Laughing Lotus!
