Enjoy a flood of warming energy as you flow through a series of balancing yoga postures. Engage and tone your leg and core muscles while grounding the nervous system. An ideal short morning yoga practice when you want to bring calm alertness to the mind and body for the day ahead.

Hi solidaj, Thank you for adding this practice to your morning. Balancing flows are a great way to enliven the body while solidifying 'presence' in the nervous system. Keep up the regular practice! BTW - I think there are some other guys in your small town 'secretly' doing yoga as well ;) Kreg

a newbie to myyogaonlin I've been using the videos for a morning wake-up before hitting the gym - today I opted for a new "morning" practice - unbelievable! - right out of the box you have me balancing (ok - you were balancing and I was wobbling) and I'm wondering if I maybe should go back to bed! Thank you so much Kreg - you are an inspiration for a guy who lives in a town with one small yoga studio where men (besides me) don't do yoga! Namaste

I love the gentle yet energising flow in this practice. The postures prepared both mind and body for the day. Thank you very much!

Hi Lina, balancing can definitely work the muscles supporting the ankle - to strengthen muscles around your ankles, you can do simple 2-footed heel lifts (standing on the balls of the feet) - you can do these in breath-left repetitions or come up and hold - to challenge yourself, hold and close one eye at a time ... this will condition the rear and side musculature (primarily the rear) of the ankle ... for the front of the ankle, do a simple standing forward bend, bend one knee, and lengthen the other - while reaching your spine forward and lengthening one leg, lean back into that heel and flex the toes of that foot towards the knee - again, you can do this flexion via breath repetitions or static holds ... last tip, when you start to feel 'aching', is this aching in the bottom of the foot? if so, you may be grabbing the ground with your toes which fires up the lactic acid in the foot musculature - try to relax and spread the toes while you balance to avoid this build up of tension and lactic acid. namaste, Kreg MYO

Hi Kreg,
My ankles ache and I often can't maintain the pose on one foot for the duration of the vinyasa. Can you please advise which exercises I can do to build strength in my ankles.
Thanking you in advance.
Regards

Hi mrenkow, I love using Warrior 3 as a way to gradually warm and expand the body (especially in the morning). This pose has so many beneficial elements in building awareness to alignment and energetic flow. Namaste, Kreg

This is my favourite short morning video to do before work. It's a great combination of stretching and strengthening and I find the focus required for the balancing poses extends into my work day.
