Recycled Laundry Detergent - My Yoga Online

  Recycled Laundry Detergent Back

Ever wonder what happens to the bars of hotel soap that you only use a few times? In Victoria B.C. Canada, and the Lower Mainland around Vancouver B.C., they are being collected, dried, powered, and turned in to laundry detergent (Buffalo Laundry Soap) by mixing it with borax and washing soda (two environmentally friendly disinfecting and water conditioning agents)!

According to the manufacturer of Buffalo Laundry Soap, there is little difference in the consistency of soaps. Most hand soaps are made of saponified palm or canola oil. They usually only differ in scent, colour, how they are milled, and air content. Therefore, mixing different soaps together is not a problem.

Users of the recycled soap have said that there is less soap suds produced and that it works as effectively as regular laundry detergent.

Where can you get this laundry soap?

They are available at Thrifty’s and through Small Potatoes Organic Delivery (SPUD) www.spud.ca. Other grocery stores may also carry this product.
