Why you should turn off your monitor when it’s not in use:
When in use, an entire desktop (computer and monitor) uses about 150 watts of power. The monitor itself consumes approximately 60-75 watts when it is in use and 50 watts during screensaver mode. That means a monitor can consume as much as 50% of the power that your entire desktop uses!
When and how to turn your computer off:
Shut down your computer if you are away for more than an hour. If you are returning to your computer within a few hours, you might want to use the Hibernate mode. The Hibernate mode saves your changes and turns off your computer. Unlike shutting down, when you restart your computer, your desktop is restored exactly as it was before. |
