Brazil is on the map this summer as they are hosting the World Cup so I thought it would be appropriate to write about Brazil’s finest dish – Açai na Tigela. Okay, that is totally my opinion, but that’s because it is deeeeeeelicious. I made this decision after spending a few months in Brazil's northeastern parts. A great way to balance our Ayurvedic Doshas throughout the seasons is with food. The Pitta time of year (summer) calls for foods that are sweeter and cooling in nature to counteract the heat and sharpness of the Pitta dosha. A good example of a sweet and cooling food is the watermelon. Stinging Nettle: Finding Treasure Among the Weeds

    Author Tanya Beresford

I have had a slightly exaggerated fear of stinging nettles since first encountering them during a trip to England in the summer of 1985. Wearing shorts for a walk through the English countryside was in retrospect not a great idea... one brush with these fairly innocuous looking leaves meant hours of throbbing pain which nothing could alleviate. After that one time, I learned to identify and steer clear of these weeds which establish their presence in great numbers. To most gardeners, they are a nuisance- growing quickly, abundantly and are rather stubborn to remove. To kids they are a vicious enemy, which almost everyone is a victim of at some point in childhood. The one major patch of nettles in my garden is a great target for my kids wielding sticks – they can slash with impunity in that area!
