Are you looking for a daily routine which will provide you with the right tools to help you kick-start your day? Regularity is one of Ayurveda's best tools to establish the proper habits for positive transformation to occur. Here is a suggested daily routine to enhance vitality and energy.
Morning Routine
- Wake up during Vata time (before 6 am)
- Scrape tongue
- Brush teeth
- Flush eyes with cold water
- 4/6 drops of warm sesame oil gargling
- Bowel movement (aid by drinking warm water)
- Nasal drops, or warm sesame oils inside to nostrils
- Self-abyhyanga massage, always towards the head, most Marma points are located in the upper body, clavicle area. Demo video
- Yoga, sadhana, mantra & meditation (if they are part of ur regular practice, if not: I can help you with that.)

- Put floral oil of your preference on your third eye, best if it is dosha specific.
- Warm breakfast (eat nothing cold in the AM) with warm spices such as: cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, turmeric, fennel, for agni ignition.

- Mid am snack: Fruit
- High Noon: biggest meal of the day
- Check pulse b4 every meal
- Leave some space in the stomach for digestion, churning of the food
- Always try and walk after each meal
- If possible, lay on your left side for 15 min to aid digestion
Evening Routine
- Cleanse the energy of the day by having a hot shower, if possible sit down to meditate for a few minutes to energetically cleanse the day away.
- Light dinner
- In bed before 10 pm
- Warm milk with turmeric and ghee b4 bed time induces good sleep but also relieves sore muscles
- A little head/foot massage is good before bedtime to induce good sleep.

2nd morning following this routine - gets me motivated to do it rather than doing it on my own - just went and saw an ayurveda practitioner from Maui who was in town here and she gave me an amazing series of restorative poses for Crohn's disease - if you'd like I can send you the poses and perhaps you could create a video for this site for people that would benefit from this - or maybe you know them already lol

@fawn - dry brushing is ideal for the people of Kapha predominant dosha. Self massage is recommended either in the morning or evening, or both time. Kapha type also should avoid dairy products. So, I recommend Kapha type people to substitute animal milk with soy milk (warm or hot). Also, Kapha should avoid sweets. So, Kapha type can have aprilf7's golden milk with substituting the rice milk with soy milk (warm or hot) and maple syrup with agave syrup or no syrup.

Thank you for this list. I have been studying ayurveda for about 1.5 years now and really enjoyed this. I also watched your video for the self massage. Thanks again!! The golden milk I drink before bed is rice milk with turmeric, saffrom, pinch of cardamom and a little maple syrip - it's pretty delicious and has helped me tremendously with sleep.

What about dry brushing? Should you add that to the routine? And when? Thanks!

HI LiIiana, I am just starting to study Ayurveda and really enjoyed your article and video (self massage). I have one question though. Here you say to always do massage towards the head, but in the video you start with head and move to the feet. I am a little confused. Could you explain, please?
Thank you
