My Occupation is
I work as a slot technician at a casino in northern Michigan.
I also teach 2 yoga classes a week at a local yoga studio.
My hobbies/interests are
Yoga!! Anything yoga related- I want to know more about it. I love summertime, the beach, the heat and the longer days. I recently adopted an irish setter that was a rescue dog. She and I log many, many miles walking the beach, the city I live and the surrounding state and federal forest areas. She is an incredible companion.
One secret that helps me to stay healthy is
I don't really have a secret to stay healthy, I just know I don't want the alternative of not staying healthy, which is illness, poor quality of life as I age and a burden to my children. I hope I am an inspiration to my children and grandchildren.
My wellness goals are
My goal is to keep my cholesterol level at a healthy level without the use of statins. As of Jan. 2012 I have discovered that I am allergic to corn and milk. So I have had to eliminate all processed foods from my diet. In the process I have become healthier and leaner. UPDATE 1-2-2013 I am down 32 lbs since may 2012' cholesterol dropped about 200 points. Total cholesterol is now 187 :)
I see myself achieving my wellness goals by
Eating well and doing lots and lots of yoga :-)
My inspirations are
My children and my grand children are my greatest inspirations. I stay healthy and strong so that I can enjoy them longer and more fully.

I am also teaching yoga to the high school girls volleyball team during their season. For the past 3 years in Aug, Sept., and Oct. I have 12-15 teen girls 1-2 times a week for 30-60 minute sessions. Our final class is a fun class where I teach them couples poses, and other fun things like wild thing and just have fun with them!!! I love bringing the world of yoga to teens.....hopefully they will remember our time together and make yoga a part of their life!!!

I have recently been diagnosed with Milk, Corn and Cinnamon allergies. I have eliminated all the foods and substances that were giving me problems. I think a cleanse is perfect to clear out the remaining toxins and get myself back on track. I am looking forward to this.

within days of posting that I was going to challenge myself with The PranaVayu Series my computer went into a major malfunction mode. So today, computer in tip top shape, I am going to restart my challenge!!!

Day 1 of my 3 week challenge: Yoga for a Bendy Back....felt amazing. I love back bends but I should have probably done this video earlier in the day as backbends have a tendency to keep me awake. LOL. I am looking forward to tomorrows video.

I decided to take the Get Lean, Get Healthy program because I think I eat healthy and I think I get enough exercise BUT in reality I am not as healthy as I could be.
This program will, hopefully open my eyes to see where I am failing and what needs improvement.
