I started to practice Yoga at 16 , but in some ways you could say i'm still a beginner ! I live in a small town in England and there has never been many Yoga classes so ive always used DVDs and books.

Since the birth of my daughter in 2008 my whole routine flew out of the window and i'm hoping my yoga online can help me regain some Yoga time!

My Occupation is
I work for a well known UK supermarket , my job is highly active and physically demanding.

My hobbies/interests are
I have a lot of love for music , art , creativity in general , family history is also a huge interest of mine as well as the history to add context. I enjoy reading , gardening , swimming and cooking. I love to learn and i love Yoga!

One secret that helps me to stay healthy is
Sounds obvious but i've never felt so well as i do when eating the right balance of foods and drinking plenty of water.

My wellness goals are
To regain a regular Yoga practice and keep in good shape for my busy little life , im also as ever always interested in the spiritual side of Yoga not just the physical.

I see myself achieving my wellness goals by
Id like to put this website to good use as well as continuing with any dvds and books. More frequent practice would be a joy.

My inspirations are
My daughter first of all. I need to be well to care for her and i feel Yoga is a gift i can one day give her , in others i admire the calm collectedness of a Yogi and in general i've always enjoyed Katy Appleton's yoga dvds.

A little more about me
I'm learning and hopefully growing , i don't always get things right or find things easy but i always try to do better.

    • Wonder if anyone has any tips

      I often find my right hip area to be so much stiffer than the left. This affects balance and how open i can be on that side or in certain poses.

      I hurt my back years ago through work and ever since then something felt "off" in the hip area , i used to get pain in my legs on a regular basis before i started doing more yoga. Not sure if the 2 issues are related but i'd guess so!

      Does anyone have any suggestions to help?

          hello all this may sound a silly question but does anyone have problems with their mat when doing power yoga? as my hands warm mine is getting slippy although i have had it for 10+ years!

          Really enjoyed Ryan's class even the challenges as i love something to work on will be coming back to this again before monday :)

          • Happens to me too, often within minutes of starting my practice. I bought one of those thin, absorbent yoga towels for hot yoga and spread it out over my mat before starting. I usually end up moving it around during my practice and it's always handy to have when my eyes start sweating...as happened in Kino's class...yikes. Too much for me!

            Maybe try a different yoga mat?
            There is big variety mats out there and some are much more slippery than others.
            Jade and Manduka make good, non-slippy mats.
            Yes - a yoga towel can be very helpful as well for super sweaty days.

                        I find at times , my left side is worse - tighter or more off balance. Anyone else find this ? I once heard that success in balance postures reflects how you feel that day.

                            For the person asking if everyday practice was ok- YES ! Wonderful but please take your time and dont do anything to strain muscles x

                                        First few hours on the website and i've already learnt something new about Yoga. Its a good feeling !

                                        • Hi Melanie its day one for me and it was inspiring to hear how much you are enjoying the Yoga on this site. I also had a baby in 2008 and am now just trying to get a bit of a regular Yoga practice happening! I live in Australia but have some English friends and would love to go there one day! :-)
