What a great video from Andrea Potter. I used to eat kitchari all the time. Yum I forgot how much I loved it. NZ is heading into autumn. I might try a kitchari cleanse in the winter. Sounds really nourishing.

Ryan Leier is amazing. I have no idea how he did that with his stomach.

              • I agree! I want to try it!

Hi, I am on Day 10 of a 20 Day Juice fast and thought adding the Yoga Detox challenge would be a nice way to finish off the second half of the cleanse.

Sounds interesting. As long as it feels right for your body!

I am doing this challenge because I am writing an assignment on insomina and I want to gently adjust my sleep cycles to improve my energy levels and help me get up earlier so I can have a daily practice of yoga in the mornings. I live in a busy household and early, early morning (4-5am) is my only time to practice.

Uni is nearly finished for the year. Its my 7th year of fulltime study. I'm frazzled, tired and a little unmotivated to do ANYTHING. So I signed up for 3 programs. Sounds a little nuts? I'm doing an assignment on insomina and stress and your resources are really good. I also happen to need to improve my sleep. I love when there's a cross-over in personal goals and academic requirements- very efficient. Its also a good way to motivate me into increasing my training. I am still managing about 3 sessions of taiji each week and I am much less frazzled or tired since going vegan, 80% raw, organic wholefood and gluten free. I need some yoga.

                            Hi Juliette,
It's just that when I hear that someone is having extreme pain when bending forward even slightly it really concerns me! For those in this sort of circumstance I definitely hope for that person to be able to work with someone deeply qualified and hands on so that they can assess and modify safely as needed.
Hope that answers your question, and I hope you feel better!

I was down on myself for missing out on yoga practice. It can really get away from me. I have 3 days at uni where I leave home at 7.30am and get home at 8.30pm. Topped off with a young family and suddenly my health isn't pushed to the side, its actually completely disappeared from site. It was my husbands birthday, we are spring cleaning, there are assignments to do, lunches to make, small and frustratingly complex pirate ships to assemble....... hang on didn't I commit to practicing Yoga on a daily basis to help me with all this? Why are the words 'Yoga Challenge' dancing around the peripherals of my memory?

                            • Thanks Liliput. Its not a lack of others giving me space to practice, its me committing the space available to practice. There is always some reason not to train, the irony is training makes everything else easier. I was fighting my body clock and trying to impose my idea of when I should be training. 'A more spiritual time'. I wanted to train early in the morning before everyone gets up, except we get up at 6am. I was trying to make myself go to bed at 8pm which just isn't working so I could get up really early to train instead of just practicing at night before bed.

                            • Oh yes, that irony is almost torture, isn't it? :-) I tried to practice before the 6 AM wake-up too for a while. It ended up not working so great for my body, and I spent the whole time stressing about whether the kids would be up earlier than usual... I've had to juggle my practice time around quite a bit lately, but I'm enjoying needing to step out of my box a little with it. I hope you can find a solution that works for you... Namaste.

Ear ache. Gentle yoga seems to be helping. So is the hot water bottle I am about to make.

I need to upload a photo except there aren't many of me. I've lost 25kgs in the last 2 years and was really shy of the camera during that time. A picture of me in some awesome yoga pose is a long way off though.

                                          • Congratulations on your weight loss! Well done! I had the same problem with posting a photo - there are none of me. So I just took one with the computer the other day. I'd call it one more step for me being comfortable with who I am and where I'm at right now.

I didn't know that Royal Protocol Sun Salutations could look like that. Wow Nico Luce is amazing. I loved the milder versions at the beginning of the video. I watched the last part about 4 times.

                                            • I'm like WOW...is this photoshopped or CGI??? What this man does is amazing! While truly beautiful, and inspirational, I would love to see some real people in these videos...people I can relate to. I know they keep saying do what you can, at your pace, but I can't help feeling somewhat inadequate and thinking I could never in a million years do that!!

                                            • I know. It was like he was moving in slow motion! The first couple of times I watched it I was checking I had seen it right. Yoga is incredible. I have really noticed an increase in both strength and flexibility over the last couple of days and I am definitely doing this at baby steps pace. It was actually quite surprising how much better I feel with the amount of yoga I am doing.

This morning I broke down the moves in Brand Spanking New and really explored each aspect of it. It really helped me to move into the poses a little more and feel where there was weakness, immobility or tension. I also noticed the patella tendons could weight bear better since yesterday. After that I tried out the exercise detailed in Re-awaking the Spine by Stan Andrzejewski. Wow it was such a great way to reintroduce movement into my body.

                                                • Sustained daily practice

                                                  October 10, 2012 at 6:14pm

For 2 years I have tried to maintain a daily practice of exercise, taiji, qigong, anything really. I'm great with the big bursts of time and energy. I'm pretty good with the cram whatever needs to be done in my day where ever it fits. I am terrible at the sustained morning practice, at arriving at the same time every day and devoting that to the journey within a discipline. I did get really sick. I never appreciated my health until it was gone. At first one session of qigong would wipe me out for four days, sometimes it would take a week to get back on the mat. Seriously frustrating especially as I can remember a not so distant past where I push it hard at the gym twice a day and it was awesome. So to be unable to be on all fours with my toes tucked under because the pressure on my patella ligaments is too much - frustrating! Muscle memory - I thought that was supposed to be my friend. It feels more like a mean kid in the playground taunting me "Na na nee na na, fetal position is not a real yoga pose!" On the upside a tiny bit of yoga makes me feel a lot better. Creating a toxic body is like having a conversation with a darling English gentleman. "Oh I say that meal is a tad rich, perhaps smoking is not wise" and detoxing is like all the cells in my body joining a death metal band and practicing day and night. Suddenly I really understand what 'not wise' meant. The journey back to health feels like I'm moving a mountain to create a tiny bit of difference so its really nice to do something that makes me feels a lot better pretty much straight away. It may not pay off like this for all my practice but for the first time in my life when I am feeling bad, doing a bit of yoga is the first solution that comes to mind.

That was so nice. I got the flu the day before the challenge started. EVERYTHING hurts. I'm seriously stiff and creaky anyway. So I'm working with my body instead imposing an idea of how the session should go. My body made it through 17.51 mins of the loveliest gentle intro to Power Yoga. Brand Spanking New is gorgeous. Believe it or not I actually feel better and most of those 17 minutes was doing very slow Catcows. I am so grateful for this online Yoga community. There is no way I would have done this in public at this fitness level and I seriously need Yoga in my day.

She even gets out the yoga mats. If myyogaonline is looking for the most motivating participant in this challenge I'd vote for her.

Signed up for Intro to Power Yoga and am starting to check out the Yin Yoga vidoes. Really excited to join My Yoga Online.

                                                        • I have always been too embarrassed to go to yoga classes regularly. My chiropractor visits are constant drain on my tiny little finances so I've joined My Yoga Online and signed up for a 21 day Power Yoga Challenge. I am seriously stiff and creaky - this should be quite amusing. I am determined to maintain a daily practice of physical exercise - something I have not been able to do for nearly 2 years. I can train intensely but always in sporadic bouts. Yoga is really cool, the more I read about it, the more I like it. It brings in a lot more aspects to a daily practice than just moving and stretching my body. Something I have been hungry for, for quite a while. So now for the practice part.
