Love this article by Dr. Ray Long. He's a yogi and a surgeon--great combo. When I did my anatomy training with him we were blown away.
"Vrksasana is both a balancing pose and, secondarily, a hip opener. It also contains elements of movement that ascend while others remain rooted into the ground. " http://www.myyogaonline.com/about-yoga/yoga-anatomy/vrksasana-the-story-of-tree-pose

Oh, check out this awesome answer and insight into why we crave sugar post-meal and what to do about it--from naturopath Dr. Miranda Demierre. Such useful info here!
This one is definitely true for me:
"If you find that you simply are looking to cleanse your palate of flavours then brushing your teeth, chewing a stick of gum, or chewing on some aromatic seeds such as fennel or cardamom may minimize your desire for something sweet."

It's all in the name--tapping into our creative flow on the mat helps us tap into our creative flow off the mat.

Absolutely LOVE this article!
"True joy and true wellness are not circumstance dependent. We can be in physical pain and still feel joy. We can experience emotional pain and still feel well. " http://www.myyogaonline.com/community/blog/wellness-catchy-phrase-or-key-to-joy

Anytime, anywhere. Whenever you walk anywhere during your day can become a time for powerful rejuvenation. Walking meditations are easy to fit in, and work with whatever is going on around you. They involve becoming mindful. You can bring your attention to anything:
- a mantra--Sanskrit or simply "Inhale peace, exhale tension"
- what you see
- what you hear
- what you can feel

"The most important factor in alignment is putting it in the context of the higher purpose of the practice. The intention of the alignment is to co-create with the Shakti in order to expand the light of Consciousness, in order to know one’s interconnectedness with all of life, and in order to directly experience the very core of one’s Heart."

Tip 1: Try a seated twist. Cleanse the body of wound-up energy; rejuvenate and calm the nervous system; relax back muscles, spine, shoulders, neck and hips. How-to: Sit cross-legged and place a blanket under your hips for support. Lengthen the crown of your head up to the sky. Inhale and reach your hands up, turning to the right as you exhale your hands down the floor, right hand behind you, left hand on your right knee. Breathe into this, inhaling to lengthen your spine, exhaling to deepen into your twist. Take five breaths here, then twist to the other side and do the same. Here's some inspiration and education for those exploring the yogic philosophy concept of ahimsa, or non-violence. Alicia Silverstone's book--a diet and lifestyle guide--outlines practical ways we can embody and live this ideal. I reviewed her book in our latest blog post: http://www.myyogaonline.com/community/blog/book-review-the-kind-diet-by-alicia-silverstone

Ever sit down to meditate and feel like you’ve failed? Me too. Luckily, then I get this nice little voice in my head that comes from a great big source. It says, “There is no try. Only do.” Ha. But in all seriousness, Yoda was onto something. Meditation isn’t about trying. It’s about being.
Here are five things I practice while meditating, to help me get my mojo flowing:

“Since the mind and body and breath are not separate, when we open our breath, it affects the body, it affects the mind.” Max Strom
