Developing a Daily Practice
March 18, 2012 at 7:45am
2 years ago I got sober from alcohol. I joined 12 step meetings and learned how to work a program that was focused on my higher power and serving others.
Just recently I have added yoga into my spiritual practice. Part of the 12 step program is to continually "improve our conscious contact with God as we understand Him." Yoga provides a physical connection to God, as well as a connection to others who choose to practice it. We are one through breath and that breath is God.
I have been taking classes 2-3x a week for a little over a month (I have previous experience with yoga) and am now finding myself developing a daily practice on my own. Myyogaonline has helped me so much! I am learning the different asanas and I'm consciously choosing what my body needs each day. I spend 30-60 minutes on the mat a morning - sometimes even twice a day! The videos on myyogaonline help me but I have also been doing some vinyasas on my own.
How have you developed a personal, daily practice? Share your journey with me.
