Yes I am having it and would like to know if you can help me relieve the hot flashes only at night time. I have always exercise and watch my diet, but I am feeling the middle section doing different things, like they call it now Menopod. LOL
It isn't funny to me, but it sounds funny, please help on what I can do and what I should be eating to help this.

The real solution to night sweats is to nourish your body. Take more time for yourself, sleep when you need it, and alleviate as much stress as possible from your life. These practices nourish the adrenal glands which are under a lot of pressure to balance your hormones at this time.

Some specific foods that might help:
Magnesium and vitamin D are essential to help improve sleep and calcium metabolism. Magnesium is high in Oats and Green leafy vegetables.
Vitamin E found in wheat germ and wheat germ oil stimulates the production of estrogen.
B-complex aids the function of the adrenal glands and helps your body deal with stress.

                    Hope that helps!

                    In Health,
                    Kate

Like most us females who are reaching this in our 40's or 50's. Is there an exercise and something I could take for relief of night sweat/ hot flashes and sometimes mood swings?

                      Hello Kim,
I work primarily with women who are entering menopause, or who have already gone through menopause and are still suffering with symptoms such as hot flashes and night sweats, moodiness, anxiety/depression, low libido, vaginal dryness, abdominal weight gain, etc. and while there are many options available to help provide relief I have yet to find one thing that works for everyone! Treatment for menopause is very specific for that individual.
A whole foods diet, regular activity (aerobic cardio, weight training, and yoga), a focus on sleep and stress reduction (yoga is also great here!), stable blood sugar levels, and time for play all help to support an active body and remove some of the antagonists to "the change". Some herbs have also shown to be helpful for many women, including chaste tree berry, black cohosh, sage, and wild yam, but as I said before, there is not one herb that I have found to be helpful for all women across the board.
Christiane Northrup's book "The Wisdom of Menopause" is a great resource.
All the best on your journey! Dr. Demierre
