I did a Summer Yin Restorative Practice class today, a very relaxing, non-commital, short class, and it was so reviving. We were up late at a beach party last night and despite my small headache this morning I kept with my goal of daily yoga. The great thing is, even when we feel depleted (or maybe especially when we feel depleted), just a little movement, breath, and flexibility can encourage a well of new energy to swell up inside us and give us the strength we need to go deeper, and find balance again. Tomorrow, I got back to work after a wonderful summer off, and I hope I can continue to remind myself of this as long days of teaching and sitting at my desk add stress to my day.

I started practicing yoga about 5 years ago, with a fantastic instructor who helped me move into a headstand, something I didn't think I could ever do, and yet now do with ease and comfort. I appreciate both the physical challenge of yoga, and the inward reflection and flow it provides to help me feel balanced in my life.
I moved to Japan last year, and while I occasionally take yoga classes at my gym, I can't understand all of the Japanese guidance and have been longing for more instruction in my practice. I'm so happy to have found this website, so that I can have the direction of experienced teachers as well as other students of yoga to help me push my practice further and help me find the grace and strength within myself to accomplish more physical and mental feats.
Currently, I'm working on building arm strength to move myself from headstand to handstand, and to accomplish more arm balance, such as crane pose. I welcome any suggestions or stories that may help me in this endeavor.
I'm intending to use this great resource as a way to incorporate daily yoga into my life... combining both my cardio and strength training at the gym with opening and strengthening yoga at home.
