I am a 61 year old woman who is not very in shape. I love yoga and have been told anyone can do it. I want to do yoga for health, meditation, and spirituality reasons. Does anyone have suggestions on how to get started? I am vegan so that part is already in place. I do like to be active.

Try searching up the beginner level yoga classes: http://www.myyogaonline.com/search?q=beginner yogaReading about the importance of breath can also be good background: http://www.myyogaonline.com/community/blog/the-breath-of-life-yoga-in-true-practiceand http://www.myyogaonline.com/community/blog/find-the-tone-of-your-yoga-breath I see you're also interested in meditation, so you might find an interest in these, that focus on breath in meditation and yoga: http://www.myyogaonline.com/search?q=pranayamaIf you like being active, ashtanga yoga is the more high paced intensive yoga type as far as I know: http://yoga.about.com/od/typesofyoga/a/yogatypes.htmGood luck and enjoy :-)

As for starting, you can look at the "restorative" practices when you search the yoga videos. They are nice because they are slow and generally offer suggestions for many alternative poses... If you just watch one first you'll see what I mean.I see you enjoy vegan cooking... Last night I made the best vegan chocolate chip cookies from my Joy of Vegan Baking cookbook. It was my first time making them and at first it looked as if they weren't turning out right, but when they were finished they were amazing! Do you have any good recipes?
