Born and raised in the Midwest but an island girl at heart and tropical sea-chaser since age 16... lived in France, Panama, Philippines, Caribbean, and the East African islands in pursuit of my first passion (coral reefs & culture). Now I'm back in the US for a spell to ???
My Occupation is
Conservation/ natural resource management
My hobbies/interests are
Anything aquatic and outdoors, traveling, anthropology, YOGA and learning about holistic health!
One secret that helps me to stay healthy is
Being a vegetarian! Reading "Crazy Sexy Diet" by Kris Karr (NO, it's not about "dieting" ehck!) and hope to read Brendan Brasier's "Thrive Diet". Doing well replacing tea for coffee :)
My wellness goals are
To exude joy and fearlessness; to maintain a consistent yoga and physical practice; to feel balanced. I used to be addicted to long-distance running until I had major knee surgery and was told to cool it on the running. I used yoga for rehabilitation but now find that it's one of my favorite physical activities and makes me feel spiritually happy simultaneously.
I see myself achieving my wellness goals by
I'll admit it, I definitely do better when I'm part of a community or network (so MYO is just what I need). Getting outdoors and being in nature inspires me!
My inspirations are
Peacemakers and defenders of justice.
A little more about me
I've just moved back to the US after living abroad in the tropics for many years... definitely going through culture and climate shock!

Back from a week in the bush with no internet access/ contact to the outside world! But my first trip in years where I was able to bring yoga with (videos of my fave teachers that I bought from the MYO website to download). Just loved being able to take yoga with me and create the yogic peace in new environments (mountains and African wildlife)... and now it's not as hard coming back from holiday transitioning back into yoga! Sweetness and another reason I'm so thrilled to be part of MYO the last 5 months! :)

Taught my first yoga class this afternoon and I cannot believe how much I have learned and absorbed from MYO in the past few months since joining. Really gives me a much deeper respect for the talents of each teacher and inspires me greatly! Each day what I look forward to most is my yoga practice and that wouldn't be possible in such a rich and powerful way if I hadn't "discovered" this site. Looking forward to the long journey ahead and really cannot express strongly enough my gratitude! Big salaams (peace)!

Happily soothed back into Maya's blissful Kundalini practice after 3 days out with major toe infection. I observed myself patiently accepting this forced rest whereas in the past I would have been disappointed and agitated to lose those 3 days after a solid stretch of warm devotion and inspiration through nearly daily yoga. Maybe I am becoming more patient after all (my biggest weakness)! :) Feeling at peace and with a great sense that yoga is going to be with me for a long time. Big smiles and spiritual uplifting!!!

Just completed my Energy Boost challenge and gained some great new, and easily applicable insights. I've signed up for another one to diversify my learning. Namaste for the rewarding and continuous journey!

I've truly appreciated the articles on "Using stimulation to your advantage" coupled with "The health benefits of tea" (Energy Booster challenge)- has made me take a complete new look on my morning coffee, which I've been psychologically and physically addicted to for 15 years. I don't think people will believe me when I replace coffee with tea, but when my espresso grinds run out in 3-4 days my daily I'm sincerely planning to replace my old habit for this healthier option! Judy's sugar video also hit home for me- I've made significant cuts from refined sugars nearly 3 months ago and noticed how little I crave them anymore at all! Thank you for this happy, helpful information MYO! :)

I've started a personal 40 day dedication to morning prostrations for peace, it's a great way to start off the day. I'm keeping up my regular yoga practice at the same time and learning lots from the "Energy Boost" challenge. I was inspired to do 40 consecutive days of mindful-body work after seeing Semperviva's website and the fact that things are low-key at work for me for the next month. LOVE how amazing I already feel after only 1 month of MYO, it sure feels like a Buddha-send :)

Energy Boost Challenge... to tap into my natural energy times and maximize my work productivity as well as how to learn techniques or methods for sustaining energy throughout the day. Also looking forward to trying different videos that I haven't done yet to see how it affects my overall balance. Yay! :)

I find myself spending all day looking forward to the next morning for another great yoga practice- I know, that's not so yogic (not living completely in each moment), but a wonderful sign of being hooked on a positive thing!
