Some organizations inspire us simply through their existence. Yoga Outreach, a Vancouver-based registered charity, is one of them. In 1996, under the direction of Sandra Sammartino, a group of yoga teachers came together with the intention to bring yoga into the correctional system within BC. Today, under the direction of organization president Beth Sampson, Yoga Outreach serves a diverse range of facilities and works with a large group of yoga teachers.
Funding for Yoga Outreach comes from a variety of sources including: proceeds from the annual “Reaching Out With Yoga” gathering; donations from individuals and organizations; yoga teachers who increase their fees and donate the extra money; community-building fundraising events; and the support of the Vancouver Foundation.
This spring, Yoga Outreach is hosting a range of fun, inspiring and educational fundraising projects.
