Question: How important are natural ingredients?
By the time she heads out the front door, the modern woman has spritzed, sudsed, and slathered herself in more than 127 different chemicals, many of them more toxic than beautifying.
So how can you look and feel great while safeguarding your health? Get smart and go green from head to toe with the help of eco-expert Gillian Deacon. In The Green Body Guide, you'll learn how to read the ingredients to identify and understand the preservatives that are bad for your body and damaging to the earth, including formaldehyde in deodorant, nail polish, soap, shampoo, and shaving cream; coal tar in hair dyes; lead in lipstick; and many more. This handbook offers a huge range of personal-care choices that are sustainable, both for your health and for the earth

Yoga teaches us the wisdom to honor what's inside and I certainly don't want to put harmful products on me that will be absorbed into my body. At the same time I would never want a defenseless animal to suffer for my vanity

All products are made up of chemicals, right? So I try to choose products that are in the closest to their natural state. I feel that they are better for me and less processing means less stress on the environment.

I refuse to be that woman who kills herself trying to be beautiful. Less is more when it comes to beauty. I prefer to use organic products on my skin that are safe enough to eat. My skin is like a sponge, it drinks up what it comes in contact with. I feel at ease without makeup, and I only wear minimal when out.

My grandmother and her grandmother used all the natural ingredients. It helped them to avoid common modern-world problems with their skin, digestive system, and hair. My grandfather had beautiful hair at the age of 75. Although they were gray, they were thick, wavy with no signs of balding. He never used a shampoo in his life, only the natural soap. The same is with his teeth. By the age of 75 he had all his teeth, no root canals ever been filled. He never used modern toothpastes with their vibrant colors and toxic ingredients. Natural ingredients will help us live longer and stay healthier and happier throughout our lives.

Very important! What we put on our bodies is like food...goes to our bloodstream.

Repeated or long term exposure to environmental toxins can lead to many health issues, including certain types of cancer. We need to focus on prevention and promotion in health, and individuals need to take responsibility for their own health. This involves being aware of the ingredients in the products we use and the potential consequences of long term use of those ingredients, and then making more appropriate choices in the future.

They were put on earth for us to use them...not just look at them! Eliminating toxins especially in personal care products is so important as the skin absorbs what you put on it in about 10 secs...not all "natural" ingredients are created equal and I wish more people would look into what they are using daily and do some good to their health by eliminating toxic products

I attempt to eliminate as many toxins in my environment as possible. It is not easy but I do what is possible. Finding natural lip stick is very important to me. When we put something on our body, it is being absorbed. Thanks for this chance!
