Tuesday Giveaway: Win ActivewearUSA.com Prizes
Posted on February 28th, 2011

Question: What’s your favorite way to be eco-friendly within your yoga practice?
Generally-speaking, yoga products don’t always have the best impact on the environment. Enter the Yogoco bag, carried by ActivewearUSA.com. It’s made from pre-consumer T-shirt scraps. Not so up on the latest garment-industry lingo? Here it is in ‘rest of us’ terms: A T-shirt is cut out of a big swath of fabric, leaving oddly-shaped, otherwise unusable pieces. These pieces are blended together to create a new fabric. This fabric is used to make the Yogoco yoga mat bag.
Less leftovers + less fabric in the landfill + happier earth = happier yogis.
The yoga bag itself isn’t all that unusual. With room for your mat and a towel, plus a few other small items, it’s pretty standard in terms of what it will carry. But it comes in 10 different fabric choices—all made from the same eco-friendly process.
Win Some New Yoga duds!
ActivewearUSA.com is giving one lucky winner one (1) surprise active wear package including a top, bottom, or complete outfit, in the winner’s choice of size.

I am a kundalini girl!! I use a sheepskin to do my yoga on, I always wear loose comfortable pure cotton clothes! I try to use only fairtradeproducts, eat fresh foods and get fresh air when I can. My greenest thing is to share my love of all things yoga and get the word out on how to be healthier and happier!

I drink the water provided at the studio using a washable cup. I made my own yoga bag from recycled clothes. I ride my bike or walk to class whenever possible. and I try to live as green as possible in my daily life by composting, recycling, and avoiding unnecessary packaging.

I bring my own water bottle instead of buying bottled water to class (and wherever I go), and I look for eco-friendly yoga/exercise clothing made of organic fabrics. I also try to find local studios to practice so that I can walk instead of driving.

I do yoga at home using myyogaonline.com. I live 60 km from a class so am being green by not using gas to go to class. This also allows me to use my reverse osmosis water. And if I wanted I could be really green and dress very minimally but I don't get that eco friendly.

I bring water to class instead of buying it in plastic bottles at the coffeehouse next to the studio. I pass on magazines to students and friends at the gyms.

I practice outdoors when I can, and I usually buy my yoga clothes and supplies second hand (but wouldn't mind winning some eco-friendly gear!)

I use an eco friendly yoga mat, try to teach as much as possible in places where students can walk to class, and teach as much as possible outdoors so the entire class can connect with nature!

I connect with nature and do yoga on my balcony at 5am and 10pm daily using bamboo props and an eco friendly yoga mat. I purchase my yoga clothes from the thrift stores. Oh, I do yoga with my four kiddos everyday so that they too can join in the journey and pay it forward.
