    I’ve been a nail biter for as long as I can remember. My fingers were always in my mouth, nails bitten down to the quick and sometimes beyond. There were times I bit my nails so much that my fingers bled. I hated this habit. I was embarrassed and ashamed of my ugly hands. I hid them in photos and tried not to let other people see them. I felt like a failure for not “getting over it”.
