Video Description

In this session, the emphasis of the practice will be on the deep connective tissues of the hips. We will open this deep, tight area slowly but fully. While we luxuriate in the deep postures, we will also explore energetic effects Yin Yoga can have on our body. The models of energy of the Indian Yogis, the Chinese Daoists and the Western scientific views will be discussed.

Bernie Clark

Bernie Clark has been teaching yoga and meditation since 1998. He has a bachelors degree in science from the University of Waterloo and combines his intense interest in yoga with an understanding of the scientific approach to investigating the nature of things. His ongoing studies have taken him deeply inside mythology, comparative religions, and psychology. All of these avenues of exploration have clarified his under-standing of the ancient Eastern practices of yoga and meditation.

+2 Rate Comment DownRate Comment Up noel 2009-03-10 21:32:29 I like doing yin yoga at the end of the day. It is wonderful for releasing upper body tension and relieving stress in the hips and lower back. I find after many viewings I am able to tune out Bernie's informative talk and simply watch my breath.

(reading comment below) Bernie explains this in the Intro to Yin class. He is very knowledgeable and explains things so well. Really like his teaching style and the way he seems to bring everything together.

However, the instructor explains everything very thoroughly, and so in subsequent practices you have to listen to all the explanations again. It would be nice if he had an introductory practice of this sort, and then another one for experienced practitioners. Also, I recommend doing a good ten minutes of warm up in order to be able to do these deep stretches.
